Five burnt to ashes in crash on Techiman-Kintampo Highway

Five persons are reported to have burnt to ashes in an accident Friday night near Bono Manso, a town on the Techiman-Kintampo Highway in the Bono East Region.

A passenger bus travelling at a high speed from Kintampo to Techiman was involved in a collision with a beverage-filled trailer travelling in the opposite direction. The incident resulted in a fire that is thought to have been caused by alcoholic beverages being transported by the trailer.

While the police say five persons were burnt to death – three on the bus and two on the trailer, including driver eyewitness accounts suggest the number could be higher.

Witnesses reported to Adom News' Wiafe Akenten that the bus was attempting to pass the trailer when the two collided, sparking a fire that consumed both vehicles, along with what was believed to be numerous passengers on the bus.

Nabilla Francis Sayuub, the Assemblyman for the Bono Manso Electoral Area, said that he was only made aware of the incident on Friday night, and that only four of the passengers have been rescued so far.

He was unsure where the bus was coming from or its destination.
